Aug. 23rd---we made it home on Aug. 22nd.
Now, it is after midnight--I have the "wide awakes"; so, I am up and on the 'puter--our trip and travels have come to an end--we had a great time---loved every mile of it--even if we did not go to Alaska---that can be a trip for another time---that being through the skies by flight--we can fly and go on a cruise---maybe--someday--something to look forward to--
We had a good visit with family in Tyler, TX---just did not get to stay long enough--but did enjoy our short time there--our miles home were good---started to stop over at an RV park but could not stand it and drove all the way thru to home---750 miles straight---we were ready to get to the house--NO PLACE LIKE HOME---
Thanks to our children, our trip they gave us was a great success and we do appreciate all they did for us and it could not have been any better--we thank them so MUCH! Love y'all MUCH!
We got into Alabama to find a place for the night---could not find one--said to heck with that and said we feel like we are 'bout home---let's keep on keeping on and head for the house---we did and we did--got home 'bout 10:10 p.m. and BOY did it feel good! Karen and Jeff met us---it was so good to see them--and they brought Miss Madi home---she was so glad to see us---and we were so glad to see her--she is our schnauzer dog---she is spoiled but we love her like she loves us--
Enough of the "gab"--just thankful for ALL of our blessings---we have MANY--we traveled---had a great time--things went well--things at home went well--the Good Lord looked after us along the way---ALWAYS--looked after everyone at home---friends still remember us---LOL---we ARE blessed--GOD IS GOOD!
Had a good beginning for the trip and the end of the trip was a good one---can't beat that with a stick!!!
Night all--sleep well--know that we are home---and happy! God Bless

Aug. 19th--a day to escape the heat--108 degrees here today--Oklahoma City
We got out 'bout the middle of the morning---had to have the truck serviced--took an hour or so--it was cool there while we waited--from there we left for a bite to eat--then went to find a theater for a movie--
Found one close to Bass Pro Shop---and is the Bass Pro Shop a BIG one--thought ours was big, but this one is really large--the theater was a short walk from there--we parked the truck there and walked--was not much parking at the theater--walked along a river walk that was really pretty--have some pics for you to see--
Saw a "way out" movie but I thought it was pretty good--with Harrison Ford--Cowboys and Aliens--far fetched but pretty good---I was tired when it was over--it wore me out! If you go to see it, you will see why--
We passed a restaurant that had Toby Keith's name on it--guess it belonged to him--or rather a chain of his maybe--wish I had been hungry--looked really nice--
Here are some pics of the water way--
This is a different format for the blog tonight--don't know what is going on--hope it comes out ok--don't know how this came about--anyway--we had a good day--stayed cool--made it back to the RV ok--and will be leaving here in the morning bright and early for Tyler, TX---for our neice and nephew's house--then, come Mon. morning, we be heading back to Forsyth---we have had a great rip--the Good Lord has looked after us--we have had a great time--and are looking forward to getting home--
NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
Love you all--hugs--God Bless

A day in Oklahoma City--most moving! Aug. 18th
Started off cool and nice but has turned into a HOT day---the temp got up to 104--the air conditioner in the RV could not do much to make it very cool--it was cooler with the floor fan outside than to be inside---but we made it--Jack is watching football now--he is in "hog heaven"--he does love his sports---Josh is keeping him updated on the Braves--whoopee--
We went into town to the Murrah Memorial Museum--most moving--142 adults killed and 19 children killed--what a tragic event--the memorial was a really great job done in their memory--got some pics and we left a teddy bear on the chain link fence---not much, but wanted to do something--
Here are some pics that we took--First this was a cross along the hwy coming into OKC as we were arriving---it was in the yard where a church was being built---the biggest cross I have ever seen--Some city sky line coming in--Starting some of the chain link fence where people has left items to recognize the dead---These are scenes drawn by local children---showing helping hands--
This is the bear we left on the chain link fence--This is a church across the street that helped during the confusion of the day of the bombing--Hope you can read black plaque--the statue and plaque is across the street from Memorial bldg--This is called "the suvivor tree"--the only tree to survive the bombing--This is a long view of where the original bldg used to be--has on one end the time of 9:01--on the other end 9:03--the time of the actual explosion--
Heart breaking to view all of this but think of the loss of all the families--there was a wall with all the survivors' names--and they had recordings from them that you could listen to--that was most moving--film of the families trying to get to their children--hopeless--so sad--
How blessed we are in so many ways---love you all--finished dinner and ready to settled down for the night--
Hugs to you all--God Bless

What a great day! Aug. 16th--Amarillo, TX
This has been a really good day---we went to the Palo Duro Canyon State Park--it is a really big hole in the ground but was interesting--spent the morning and part of the afternoon there--came back into town---went to Wally World---back to the RV---then on to dinner---and what a dinner--
First a few pics from the canyon--This last pic shows how they measure the water level when it floods---Pics at one of the stops down in the bottom of the canyon--
OK, here goes for our night out at The Big Texan Restaurant---what a great meal we had---had limo to pick us up and bring us back to RV---free --how 'bout that--things do ring up big in TX---LOL--This was our first driver that picked us up--a farmer, retired--been here most of his life---said this was the worst drought he had ever seen--dry as a bone here and the wind is blowing like you would not believe--
Pic w/our first driver--he was cool---
Pics outside the restaurant---Have you ever seen on TV 'bout eating a 72 oz steak with trimmings free--if you can eat it all--well this is the place--the record is someone did it in a little over 8 min.--WOW---this is their 50th anniversary of being in business--
Inside the restaurant---And can you believe this---it was not expensive---we have paid more at restaurants in Macon---how 'bout that? These pics are for Betty Toole---this is what is digging up her backyard--they are here in the gift shop for sale---for over two hundred dollars a piece---can you believe that, Betty?
Did not get any pics of our driver that brought us home--he was 86 yrs. old--been in WWII--a retired geologist--a really nice guy--sorry we did not get pics of him--lived here off and on since he was 14 yrs. old.
Well, guess this is enough for tonight--it has been nice--we are pulling out in the morning for Oklahoma City--we will be there for 3 nights--then on to Tyler, TX where our niece lives---
Nite all--sleep well--love you and hugs to you all--
God Bless

I hafta to show you the picture of the dog here and how she looks like our Miss Madi--
This is the stadium where the Broncos play football---their new stadium
We have finished our dinner and are staying inside--we are back into the "heat" again---it is so hot---it was 97 degrees when we came thru Colorado Springs this afternoon--we are back in the real world---right?
