What a great day! Aug. 16th--Amarillo, TX

This has been a really good day---we went to the Palo Duro Canyon State Park--it is a really big hole in the ground but was interesting--spent the morning and part of the afternoon there--came back into town---went to Wally World---back to the RV---then on to dinner---and what a dinner--

First a few pics from the canyon--
This last pic shows how they measure the water level when it floods---
Pics at one of the stops down in the bottom of the canyon--

OK, here goes for our night out at The Big Texan Restaurant---what a great meal we had---had limo to pick us up and bring us back to RV---free --how 'bout that--things do ring up big in TX---LOL--
This was our first driver that picked us up--a farmer, retired--been here most of his life---said this was the worst drought he had ever seen--dry as a bone here and the wind is blowing like you would not believe--

Pic w/our first driver--he was cool---

Pics outside the restaurant---
Have you ever seen on TV 'bout eating a 72 oz steak with trimmings free--if you can eat it all--well this is the place--the record is someone did it in a little over 8 min.--WOW---this is their 50th anniversary of being in business--

Inside the restaurant---
And can you believe this---it was not expensive---we have paid more at restaurants in Macon---how 'bout that?
These pics are for Betty Toole---this is what is digging up her backyard--they are here in the gift shop for sale---for over two hundred dollars a piece---can you believe that, Betty?

Did not get any pics of our driver that brought us home--he was 86 yrs. old--been in WWII--a retired geologist--a really nice guy--sorry we did not get pics of him--lived here off and on since he was 14 yrs. old.

Well, guess this is enough for tonight--it has been nice--we are pulling out in the morning for Oklahoma City--we will be there for 3 nights--then on to Tyler, TX where our niece lives---

Nite all--sleep well--love you and hugs to you all--

God Bless
Marilyn and Jack
